Pepe played the guitar since age twelve, inspired by the romantic Mexican music. His repertoire included: Mexican bolero and ranchero, American Standards, Brazilian, as well as music from other Latin American countries. He performed as a part of duets, trios, and groups in Mexico City, Chihuahua, Acapulco, Tijuana, Ciudad Juarez, Los Angeles, Pasadena, and Minneapolis. Pepe participated in numerous concerts with his brother Julio De La Huerta.
